  • 09:08 One day I'd like to tweet the top five trending topics in one tweet, just to see if my computer or twitter account exploded. #
  • 09:10 Does NPR's "All Things Considered" have a twitter account? Anyone know? #
  • 11:43 @GetchaSketch54 I'm sure that's not true. And my own comedic genius also tells me that's not funny, either. #

The Maury Povich show is bananas

  • May. 27th, 2009 at 11:07 AM

Between the woman bringing on 50 dudes for a DNA test to determine who is her child's father and the guy who is lying on the lie detector test about paying for sex while he's been with his girlfriend, I just don't even know what to make of American society.

EDIT: And the apologies! Don't get me started on the forced, insincere apologies. Like this one I just heard: "I'm sorry I've been having sex with your man for the past four months."

Except to say that I AM NOT THE FATHER!!!

So the president picked his nominee for the upcoming Supreme Court vacancy. I think she's fine; she may be more liberal than some of my friends prefer, or not as liberal as some of my friends prefer. But whatever, the president thinks she would be a fine justice, she seems pretty qualified, etc. And I've long been for presidents getting what they want when it comes to these kind of appointments; until very recently, there was a mutual/bipartisan acceptance of this position.

My problem (I guess its a problem) is that we haven't had a single legal scholar/serious intellectual appointed to the Court in a long time. I mean, presidents default to picking federal appeals court justices now, and that's fine I suppose. But there was a time when presidents picked law professors, state court judges, governors, and practicing attorneys for the Court. It gave the Court a much more egalitarian character (in so far as a bunch of white guys could be considered egalitarian) than what we see now. At least there was more intellectual diversity.
